I això s'acaba..

Hey: English version at the end of the post!!!!!!!

I això ja s’acaba.

English version

Next thursday I’ll be at home (hopefully with Barça classified for the Final of Champions leage) and then I’ll write a bigger post with a coment of this 4 months away from home and living between fins and exchange students

Now I want to share with you the feeling I’m having in my soul and my heart (it’s a literal translation I don’t know if you can understant what I want to say)… How you can imagine come back to home’s a good thing and means see my catalan friends, drink Estrella Damm (my favourite beer), live Barcelona and also feel this magics moments of folk/trad/popular festivals where Gralla takes an important lead.

BUT I’m not 100 % happy, return Catalonia means leave Helsinki. Vitu, Shit…

I have had really great time, more that what I have expected and I have felt in love with Sibelius Akademy and with his Folk Department (80 % the Folk Deparment). I think I have use so well my time here, I have done all the thinks I want but I have discovered a new univers in front myself: a freedom*, a way to leave and understant folk/trad music and new ways to work… that just with 4 months I wasn’t able to assimilate.

Friday there’s the performance of the Big Folk Band, 30 musiciens playing fiddles, kanteles, percussions, doublebass and flutes, this weekend Vapu, monday and tuesday exam of the two bands where I have played, wendsday my solo exam and thursday back to home.

Buuut, it’s not over…
To be continued…

* freedom as meaning lack of complexes and where you have to work by your own

P.d. Lectors Catalans, feu crítiques constructives a la traducció. If you see mistakes in spell/grammar tell me, I’ll correct!!
P.d.d. If I have som comments in English I promise to translate most of my posts! So, say something

"Giants de La Patum"

"Catalonia is a country between Spain, France, the Pyrenees and Mediterranean Sea, and it has been a crossroad of many different cultures: Iberians, Phoenicians, Romans, Goths, Muslims. All of these different nations have left something to us. So our folk music is a mix between this old cultural inheritance and all of the new popular musics that had come from Europe during XIX century.

In this masterclass I want to explain you the different kinds of traditional/folk music, the instruments and also this dances or performances that had helped to keep the tradition, and why not, learn some tunes and songs. So please, bring your instruments "
